  • Many diesel-powered machines are used in the construction industry and infrastructure. As a result, workers from this sector are regularly in contact with particulate matter emissions. This is why employers are legally required to limit soot particulate emissions by at least 70%. A catalyst can help with this.

    Road construction

    Heavy equipment using diesel is still frequently used in road construction. This is because the machinery in road construction is so heavy: The asphalt machine quickly weighs 17,000 pounds, and a roller quickly weighs 5,000 pounds. Because of their weight, these machines use a lot of fuel, which makes diesel the most attractive.

    Asphalt machines and rollers are in most cases equipped with an open cabin; in this way, the driver and the other crew are constantly exposed to exhaust gases. With these open machines, the installation of a soot filter is mandatory. However, this equipment usually lasts for a very long time, which means it does not yet meet current emissions requirements. It is then up to the employer to provide soot filtering to the equipment.

    Maintenance of soot filters

    Soot filters for small equipment are sometimes not automatically renewed because the exhaust gases are not hot enough. As a result, these particulate filters require maintenance every 500 hours. On larger machines this depends on the type of soot filter and the installation location. Maintenance of the soot filter is normally specified in the vehicle's owner's manual.

Exhaust gases from diesel forklifts and stationary diesel engines operating in factories, buildings, warehouses, tunnels have a negative effect on people and are harmful to the environment and various materials.

Products can deteriorate from the concentration of diesel fumes. Dizziness and headache seen in the operator are the events encountered as a result of carbon monoxide accumulation. Unpleasant odors, irritation of the eyes, nose and throat are caused by aldehydes in the exhaust gases. Building maintenance becomes more problematic due to the familiar blue exhaust fumes staining walls and discoloration of windows. The high noise levels of diesel engines are also an additional source of inconvenience.
Now for any diesel engine these problems can be eliminated by installing an exhaust scrubber.
With catalytic oxidation, diesel exhaust gas cleaners render diesel exhaust gases harmless.

 

LPG ENGINES ARE NO LESS HARMFUL

LPG powered vehicles are no cleaner than diesel powered vehicles. Since LPG engines do not work with excess air, complete combustion of fuel is almost impossible. Therefore, although the exhaust gas does not have the characteristic diesel smell, it contains very high levels of carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbons. It is necessary to install an exhaust gas cleaner on LPG engine vehicles for efficient cleaning of polluting gases .
